Job Description

At Caramel Tech Studios small teams of artists, designers and engineers work together to create exciting games. The Concept Artist should have a minimum of 2+ years of visual development experience. Comfortable with a range of art styles. Will be executing concepts as well as in game assets. Understands how to achieve atmosphere, light and mood. Excellent Photoshop skills. Has strong organizational skills and is detail oriented. Candidate should have at least 1+ year of mobile gaming experience. Using 3D or various techniques to achieve final piece is a plus. Needs to meet deadlines and work comfortably in a highly collaborative environment.


Responsibilities:

  • Vision - Produce images to set the bar for the visual style of the game.
  • Illustration - Create unique character and environment illustrations for static or animated images.

Required Skills
  • 2+ years of illustration experience in Photoshop, Illustrator or Painter.
  • Great sense of aesthetics, line and form, color/shade and lighting, human anatomy, environmental painting skills and composition.
  • Ability to work with a broad range of subjects and styles, from detailed and rendered paintings like you might see in console game or films concept art to simple and cartoony and more appropriate for a light-hearted casual game. And anywhere in-between!
  • Strong cross-functional communications skills; verbal, written, and visual.
  • Ability to take direction well and to play well with others.
  • Self-starter, self-motivated and takes accountability and ownership of projects from start to finish.
  • Strong passion for gaming, especially in the mobile space.
  • A terrific sense of humor.
  • Bachelors or Associates Degree in Graphic Design or related studies.

Preference will be given to candidates who have:
  • Experience in 3D rendering on 2D objects & environments is a HUGE plus.
  • Experience working on shipped games.
  • Strong character and environment design skills are big plus.
  • Experience in Flash including creating optimized movies, buttons, and animation is a plus.
