Job Title: Laboratory Technologists – Multiple Specialties

Hasan Suleman Memorial Hospital (HSMH) is a 312-bed hospital being developed in Malir, Karachi, with planned opening in December 2026. HSMH is committed to providing safe, quality, accessible, and patient-centered healthcare services.

We are seeking skilled and detail-oriented Laboratory Technologists for the following specialties:

• Hematology
• Chemical Pathology
• Chemical Immunology
• Microbiology
• Parasitology
• Blood Bank

The selected candidates will perform laboratory investigations, process clinical specimens, maintain quality standards, and ensure accurate and timely reporting of diagnostic results. Candidates should have relevant technical expertise and the ability to work effectively in a hospital laboratory environment.

Qualification:

Bachelor’s degree in Medical Laboratory Technology (BS-MLT) from a recognized institution.

Relevant professional registration or licensing, where applicable, will be preferred.

Experience

Minimum 2–5 years of relevant laboratory experience is required.

Candidates must have experience in their respective specialty. Prior experience in a hospital-based or tertiary care diagnostic laboratory will be preferred.

Key Responsibilities

• Perform routine and specialized laboratory investigations according to established procedures and the assigned specialty.
• Receive, label, process, and handle clinical specimens in accordance with laboratory protocols.
• Operate, calibrate, and maintain laboratory equipment to ensure accurate and reliable test results.
• Conduct internal quality control procedures and ensure compliance with laboratory quality standards.
• Review test results, identify abnormal findings, and promptly escalate critical or clinically significant results to authorized personnel.
• Maintain accurate records of laboratory investigations, quality control activities, equipment maintenance, and daily operations.
• Ensure proper handling, storage, and disposal of specimens, reagents, and laboratory waste.
• Monitor the availability of reagents, consumables, and other laboratory supplies and report stock shortages.
• Follow standard operating procedures (SOPs), infection prevention and control measures, biosafety guidelines, and patient safety protocols.
• Ensure proper maintenance of laboratory equipment and promptly report technical issues.
• Coordinate with other laboratory sections and clinical departments to ensure efficient workflow and timely reporting of results.
• Assist in laboratory audits, quality improvement initiatives, and compliance with applicable regulatory requirements.
