Job Description: Mechanical Assembly & QC Technician
Position Overview
We are seeking a skilled Mechanical Technician to assemble, fit, troubleshoot, and install Vertical Form Fill Seal (VFFS) machinery for liquid and solid flexible pouch packaging. As part of a structured career progression, upon demonstrating mastery in assembly and installation, this role will transition into Quality Control (QC) inspection for finished machines.
Key Responsibilities
- Assembly & Fitting: Read mechanical drawings to assemble, fit, align, and integrate mechanical systems, pneumatics, etc for VFFS packaging machines.
- Troubleshooting & Testing: Diagnose mechanical malfunctions, conduct root-cause analysis, and execute necessary adjustments or repairs during factory testing and commissioning.
- Installation & Field Support: Perform mechanical installation, calibration, and on-site setup of VFFS equipment to ensure operational readiness.
- Safety & Compliance: Adhere strictly to workplace safety protocols, inspect tools, and proactively report safety hazards.
- Quality Control Transition Phase: Following successful completion of assembly duties, transition into inspecting completed VFFS machines against quality standards, verifying fit/finish, conducting final validation checks, and maintaining detailed inspection records.
Qualifications & Experience
- Education: Diploma of Associate Engineer (DAE) in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent.
- Experience: Minimum 3 years of hands-on experience in mechanical fitting, assembly, and troubleshooting of industrial machinery (experience with VFFS or flexible packaging machinery preferred).
Required Skillset
- Expertise in using hand and power tools for precise mechanical fitting and alignment.
- Strong working knowledge of mechanical drive systems, pneumatics, and hydraulics.
- Proven root-cause troubleshooting and mechanical repair capabilities.
- High attention to detail required for precision quality inspection and calibration.
- Effective communication skills to collaborate with production teams and document inspection reports.
