Position Purpose

The Instructor – Garments is responsible for delivering practical and theoretical training in garment manufacturing, stitching, cutting, finishing, and related apparel production techniques. The role focuses on developing students’ technical competencies, workplace readiness, and practical skills in accordance with the approved curriculum, industry standards, and organizational requirements.

Key Responsibilities

  • Plan and deliver theoretical and practical training in garment-related subjects.
  • Prepare lesson plans, practical exercises, demonstrations, assignments, and training materials.
  • Teach students garment construction, stitching, cutting, sewing techniques, garment finishing, and quality control.
  • Demonstrate the correct and safe use of sewing machines, cutting tools, pressing equipment, and other garment-related equipment.
  • Provide hands-on training in operating and maintaining industrial and domestic sewing machines.
  • Train students in basic pattern making, fabric selection, measurement, cutting, stitching, and garment assembly.
  • Teach students different stitching techniques, seam types, hems, collars, sleeves, pockets, zippers, and other garment components.
  • Develop students’ understanding of fabric types, garment specifications, measurements, patterns, and production processes.
  • Train students in garment finishing, ironing, pressing, trimming, and final product presentation.
  • Instruct students on quality standards, defect identification, quality control, and corrective measures.
  • Ensure students follow proper workplace health and safety practices while using machinery, tools, and equipment.
  • Monitor students’ practical performance and provide constructive feedback to improve their technical skills.
  • Conduct practical demonstrations, tests, assignments, and examinations to assess students’ learning outcomes.
  • Maintain accurate records of student attendance, performance, assessments, and practical competency.
  • Identify students requiring additional support and provide appropriate coaching and guidance.
  • Maintain tools, machines, equipment, training materials, and workshop facilities in good working condition.
  • Ensure proper use, storage, and maintenance of training equipment and materials.
  • Promote discipline, punctuality, teamwork, professionalism, and workplace ethics among students.
  • Incorporate current garment industry practices and techniques into training wherever appropriate.
  • Coordinate with industry partners and relevant departments to ensure training remains aligned with market and employment requirements.
  • Participate in curriculum reviews, instructor meetings, workshops, exhibitions, skills competitions, and institutional activities.
  • Support students in developing employability skills and preparing for careers in the garment and apparel industry.
  • Ensure compliance with organizational policies, curriculum standards, safety procedures, and quality requirements.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe training environment.
  • Perform any other duties related to training and garment instruction assigned by management.

Required Qualifications & Experience

  • Diploma, Certificate, or Bachelor’s degree in Garments, Fashion Design, Textile, Apparel Manufacturing, or a relevant field.
  • Relevant technical certification in garment manufacturing or vocational training will be an advantage.
  • Practical experience in garment production, stitching, tailoring, apparel manufacturing, or fashion-related work.
  • Previous teaching or vocational training experience will be preferred.
  • Good knowledge of garment construction, sewing techniques, cutting, finishing, and quality control.
  • Ability to operate and demonstrate different types of sewing and garment production equipment.
  • Good communication, demonstration, classroom management, and interpersonal skills.

Pay: Rs19,188.09 - Rs104,864.81 per month
