We are looking for a strategic and hands-on HR Manager to help build the people infrastructure, culture, and talent operations that support our growth.

Position Overview

The HR Manager will oversee the day-to-day human resources operations of Earlston Academy while helping develop scalable HR systems, employee programs, performance processes, onboarding systems, and talent strategies.

This role is ideal for an HR professional who is comfortable working in a fast-growing, remote, and evolving environment. The successful candidate will be expected to be both strategic and hands-on, taking ownership of HR operations while helping build the systems and processes needed for long-term organizational growth.

Key ResponsibilitiesHuman Resources Operations

  • Manage day-to-day HR operations across the organization.
  • Develop and maintain HR policies, procedures, handbooks, and internal documentation.
  • Maintain accurate employee and contractor records.
  • Support workforce planning and organizational development.
  • Ensure HR processes are organized, consistent, and scalable.

Recruitment & Talent Management

  • Partner with leadership and hiring managers to identify staffing needs.
  • Support the recruitment, screening, interviewing, and selection process.
  • Help build structured hiring and onboarding processes.
  • Develop talent retention and employee engagement strategies.
  • Support succession planning and internal career development.

Onboarding & Employee Experience

  • Manage and improve the employee and contractor onboarding experience.
  • Ensure new hires complete required documentation, training, and onboarding requirements.
  • Develop onboarding processes that help employees become productive quickly.
  • Monitor the employee experience throughout the employee lifecycle.

Performance Management

  • Help develop and manage performance management systems.
  • Establish and monitor KPIs and performance expectations.
  • Support performance reviews, feedback processes, and performance improvement plans.
  • Work with managers to address performance concerns and improve team effectiveness.

Employee Relations & Culture

  • Serve as a trusted HR resource for employees and managers.
  • Support the resolution of workplace concerns and employee relations matters.
  • Promote a positive, professional, inclusive, and high-performance culture.
  • Help develop employee engagement initiatives and internal communication practices.

Compliance & HR Documentation

  • Maintain confidential employee information and HR records.
  • Support compliance with applicable employment laws and regulations.
  • Ensure required employment, contractor, confidentiality, and policy documentation is completed and maintained.
  • Maintain a high level of confidentiality when handling sensitive employee information.

HR Systems & Reporting

  • Help implement and improve HR systems, processes, and workflows.
  • Track important HR metrics, including hiring, retention, turnover, onboarding completion, and performance.
  • Prepare regular HR reports and recommendations for leadership.
  • Identify opportunities to automate and improve HR operations.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, Organizational Psychology, or a related field preferred.
  • 5+ years of experience in HR Managers or a related HR role.
  • Experience managing HR operations, recruitment, onboarding, and employee relations.
  • Strong knowledge of HR principles, policies, and best practices.
  • Experience working with remote or distributed teams preferred.
  • Strong communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to handle confidential and sensitive information professionally.
  • Strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
  • Ability to work independently in a fast-paced and evolving organization.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience working in a startup, education, technology, or high-growth organization.
  • Experience building HR systems and processes from the ground up.
  • Experience managing both employees and independent contractors.
  • Experience with HR technology and digital collaboration tools.
  • Knowledge of performance management, KPI systems, and organizational development.
  • Experience supporting international or globally distributed teams.
