Data Collector, Community Health Sciences

Location: Karachi

Introduction:

The Department of Community Health Sciences (CHS) is the leading unit of its type in Pakistan, recognized regionally and internationally for the relevance, quality, and extent of its work in support of public health and the development of primary health care systems. It comprises five major operational sections: Epidemiology & biostatistics, Health policy & management, Population & reproductive health, Environmental health & climate change, and Non-communicable diseases & mental health.

This is a grant-funded contractual position.

Responsibilities:

You will be responsible to:

  • conduct participant screening, recruitment, and informed consent in accordance with ethical guidelines
  • administer structured surveys, interviews, and questionnaires at study sites, including schools and stores
  • collect and accurately record quantitative and qualitative data using digital tools
  • transcribe audio-recorded qualitative interviews with attention to detail
  • manage and securely maintain participant data while ensuring confidentiality
  • maintain accurate field logs, documentation, and study materials
  • schedule and coordinate participant appointments and field activities
  • ensure compliance with study protocols and standard operating procedures
  • communicate effectively with research supervisors and team members and provide timely field updates.

Requirements:

  • You should have:

    intermediate or equivalent (twelve years of schooling)
  • at least one year of experience in community-based data collection
  • proficiency in digital tools and data entry platforms; experience with REDCap preferred
  • strong communication skills with the ability to interact respectfully with diverse community members
  • strong organisational and time-management skills
  • strong written and verbal communication skills in English and local languages, including Urdu and Sindhi
  • the ability to work independently as well as collaboratively within a team
  • willingness to travel regularly to field sites and adapt to project needs.
