Aga Khan University invites applications for the position of Associate, Research Office.

Responsibilities

Reporting to the Senior Manager, the Associate will support the Research Office by contributing to the development, execution, and evaluation of activities that enhance the visibility, reach, and impact of AKU’s research. The position will support research storytelling, digital content development, newsletters, and related materials while coordinating with researchers and other stakeholders.

Specifically, you will be responsible to:

• Support the development of content for the AKU Research Magazine, including interviewing and coordinating with researchers and other stakeholders to gather information, photographs, and inputs for story development.

• Maintain and update the AKU Research website and affiliated digital platforms, including developing and uploading research stories, feature articles, news, announcements, and other web content.

• Assist in producing the Research Nexus monthly newsletter by gathering, editing, and coordinating updates from research teams and partners.

• Support the development of content and materials for key research initiatives, events, meetings, and campaigns, including posters, flyers, presentations, and other materials.

• Assist in planning and developing social media content for Research Office and AKU channels, including stand-alone posts and campaign content, and support the production of relevant multimedia assets.

• Translate technical and academic research information into clear, accessible, and engaging content for internal and external audiences.

• Coordinate with researchers, faculty, research teams, and other stakeholders to gather information and develop timely and accurate content.

• Support the monitoring and evaluation of activities, including digital and social media performance, audience engagement, and content reach.

• Undertake other related tasks assigned by the Manager, in support of departmental priorities.

Requirements

You should have:

• Bachelor’s degree in Journalism, Marketing, Social Sciences, or a related field from a recognized institution; a Master’s degree will be an advantage.

• At least 2–3 years of relevant experience in content development, media, digital marketing, or related roles, preferably within higher education, research, non-profit, or development sectors.

• Ability to translate technical, academic, or research information into accessible and engaging language for diverse audiences.

• Strong English language skills, with excellent writing, editing, proofreading, and storytelling abilities and a high level of attention to detail.

• Familiarity with social media platforms, analytics tools, content management systems, and digital publishing platforms.

• Basic proficiency in graphic design and/or video editing tools such as Canva, CapCut, Adobe Suite, or similar applications.

• Strong interpersonal, coordination, and stakeholder engagement skills, with the ability to work effectively with diverse teams.

• Creativity, curiosity, and eagerness to learn about research, higher education, and global development issues.

• Strong organizational and time-management skills, with the ability to manage multiple assignments, meet deadlines, and work with minimal supervision.

• A collaborative mindset and a strong commitment to quality, accuracy, and effective research content development.
