Job Purpose

This is a market-building role: the Manager is responsible for creating Rahat Bakers' entire sales and distribution network in Pakistan from the ground up — starting in Lahore and then replicating the model city by city (Karachi, Islamabad/Rawalpindi, then Faisalabad, Multan, Gujranwala, Peshawar, Hyderabad and beyond). The mandate is to identify, appoint, launch and grow a network of city distributors who carry Rahat Bakers products into general trade, modern trade and institutional channels, and to build the reporting, pricing and recovery discipline that keeps that network healthy as it scales. This is not a role that manages an existing sales force — it is the role that builds one.

Key Responsibilities1. City launch strategy (starting with Lahore)

  • Own the go-to-market plan for each new city: market sizing, target trade channels (general stores, bakeries, modern trade, institutional), pricing and margin structure, and a realistic distributor-coverage target for the first 90 days.
  • Launch Lahore first: identify and appoint the Lahore distributor, get the product onto shelves across a defined target list of outlets, and use Lahore as the proof-of-model before replicating it.
  • Sequence the roll-out to Karachi and Islamabad/Rawalpindi next, then Phase-2 cities (Faisalabad, Multan, Gujranwala, Peshawar, Hyderabad), adjusting the playbook based on what Lahore teaches.

2. Distributor identification & appointment

  • Source and evaluate potential distributors in each target city: existing FMCG/food distribution business, van fleet and godown capacity, financial soundness, and existing general-trade coverage.
  • Negotiate and finalize distributor agreements — territory, targets, trade margins, payment terms (advance-only in the first 6 months, moving to limited credit against track record), and termination terms — working with Accounts and, where needed, legal counsel.
  • Set each distributor up for launch: opening stock order, price list, point-of-sale materials, and a clear first-90-day target.

3. Distribution network management

  • Build and manage the city-based Sales Officer team as the network grows — one per anchor city — who manage the day-to-day distributor relationship, retail visits, order booking and in-market execution.
  • Set and track distributor targets, monitor sell-through (not just sell-in) to avoid stock dumping, and run the monthly distributor scorecard (target achievement, payment discipline, coverage growth).
  • Expand distribution depth in launched cities (more outlets, modern trade, institutional accounts) in parallel with launching new cities — the role owns both depth and breadth.

4. Supply chain coordination

  • Work with the Production Manager to translate confirmed distributor orders and city rollout plans into the weekly production plan, so the factory produces to real demand.
  • Coordinate outbound logistics: delivery scheduling to distributors, vehicle/route planning as the city count grows, and resolving delivery or stock-freshness issues in the trade.
  • Monitor stock rotation in the trade (FIFO at distributor and retail level) jointly with QA, and manage the returns/stale-stock process per Company policy.

5. Commercial management

  • Own pricing and trade-margin structure by channel and city, balancing competitiveness with the Company's gross margin target.
  • Enforce the credit policy: advance-only in each distributor's first 6 months, then limited credit strictly against signed agreements and Accounts sign-off; ensure recovery discipline — sales staff never collect cash.
  • Plan and manage trade schemes and promotions (e.g., festive/Eid activity) against an agreed budget, measuring return.

6. Reporting & escalation

  • Submit a weekly consolidated sales and distribution report (orders, recoveries, active outlet count, competitor activity, network expansion progress) to the Management and General Manager — this is the primary channel through which a remote-Management tracks market performance.
  • Flag underperforming distributors, credit risks, or competitive threats proactively, with a recommended course of action, not just a status update.

Essential

  • 4–5 years' experience in FMCG or food-sector sales and distribution, with direct, hands-on experience appointing new distributors and launching new geographic markets — not only managing an established network.
  • Strong understanding of Pakistan's general trade and distribution economics: distributor and retailer margins, credit norms, van-sales operations.
  • Proven track record of hitting sales and coverage targets in a previous role, with references who can confirm this.
  • Comfortable with extensive city travel, particularly during the Lahore launch and subsequent city roll-outs.
  • Strong negotiation skills and financial literacy — able to read a distributor's financial soundness before appointing them.
  • Good written and spoken Urdu and working English for reporting to the Management.

Preferred

  • Prior experience specifically in bakery, confectionery, biscuits or a related packaged-food category.
  • Existing relationships with distributors or modern-trade buyers in Lahore, Karachi or Islamabad.
  • Experience managing both fresh (short shelf-life) and packaged (long shelf-life) product distribution.

Key attributes

  • An entrepreneurial builder, not a caretaker — genuinely energized by creating a network from nothing rather than maintaining one that already exists.
  • Disciplined on commercial terms — will hold the line on advance payment and credit limits even under pressure to grow volume.
  • A clear, honest reporter — surfaces bad news (an underperforming distributor, a competitive threat) early rather than late.
  • Able to operate with real autonomy while keeping the Management properly informed — this role will make daily decisions in the field without close supervision.

Working Conditions

  • Heavy travel, especially in the first 6–12 months while cities are being launched sequentially; based out of Lahore initially.
  • Frequent market/outlet visits, distributor meetings, and periodic factory visits to align with the Production Manager and QA.

Reports into the factory's weekly and monthly reporting rhythm to the Management, who monitors operations — this role's weekly report is one of the most important inputs to that oversight.

Pay: Rs90,000.00 - Rs130,000.00 per month
