Some BAs give good feedback and are supportive. I’ve learned a lot about taking data and identifying behaviors. I’ve learned the importance of ethical practices. Scheduling needs to be improved as well as communication. Pay and benefits for BTs need to be improved. When a client’s caregiver cancels a session(s), BTs should get some sort of compensation without having to use their PTO or worry about making up the session(s) within a certain time frame. It is not the BTs fault when it comes to client cancellations and they should not be penalized in any way when it happens. BTs do have the option to not work on ABS observed holidays without it counting against them. If they choose to work, they get time and a half which is great. The problem is if they don’t work on the company observed holidays, they do not get paid at all, which is unfair. Hourly workers should enjoy the benefits of paid holidays without losing out on pay just like salaried workers. They should not have to have a smaller paycheck unless they use PTO on observed holidays or work on the holidays in order to maintain their paycheck. It is morally wrong.

Pros

Diversity

Cons

Unfairness in some aspects.

Caring Environment

ABS Kids provided great training and support to enter a new career. They worked with me to get my schedule just right, they are very flexible with scheduling. I feel like I’m kind of a big kid so, for me, this job is great. I literally get paid to be silly and play with kids. We are assigned to one client so you get really close to that little human, but I have also formed relationships/friendships with my coworkers and their clients. I used to be a teacher and this job def scratches my “being with the kids” itch. I would recommend this company to anyone who enjoys working with kids.

Pros

Supportive supervisors, flexible schedule, Kids

Cons

It took a minute to get my schedule hammered out

Poor communication

Great training love the family I work with but there is a major disconnect between rbts, bcbas, and higher ups you'll get told one thing is okay and then turn around and get in trouble for it there policies change constantly no one can keep up with it

Great place to work

I worked as a BT in Layton UT at this company and loved the job. I felt the pay was fair, there was a clear pathway for advancement. The job is purposeful, and supervisors provide tons of support. I loved my coworkers and the children I worked with. Don't get me wrong, sometimes the nature of the work can be exhausting, but if you love kids, it's worth it.

Pros

Great coworkers and supervisors. Lots of support from higher ups. Possible advancement. Cute kids.

Great job overall

Great place to work. It’s just a lot of switching to different clients and scheduling is all over the place. Communication isn’t that great and I prefer more structure and stability.

Not consistent with hours.

I loved it there at first but kept having clients pulled and would be left without hours. It would take weeks or months to get another client and would have to rely on covering other peoples hours to survive.

Pros

Work with kids

Cons

Nothing consistent.

Fun place to learn and grow in the ABA field

I feel like I have found my forever home with this company. The model that is used to promote and also expand your education is fantastic. I feel that you have all of the support you need to be successful you just need to reach out. The downside is scheduling. Sometimes you may have a full schedule of patients and sometimes you may only have one patient so if you’re the main breadwinner for your family that could get a little tricky. With that said it’s easy to pick up shifts and help colleagues so it’s not really a huge deal.

Great place for the kids

The employees put their all into bettering kids’ lives with ABA. The pay doesn’t equal the amount of work but that’s typical in the business of ABA. The only thing I noticed that wasn’t helpful was the lack of time spent building rapport with new clients. The data doesn’t represent the child’s goals if at least 1 week is spent gaining the child’s trust. BCBA’s are overworked.

Rewarding but there’s favoritism and bias

Love the job, but some supervisors can be very bias and have favorite BTs. During supervisions they aren’t as attentive to certain cases as others. Supervisors can make the learning environment uncomfortable to some BTs. Overall if you love making a difference and are there for the kiddos it’s an awesome job.

Good and bad

Supervisors are supportive. Some cases are easier than others, job difficulty depends on how bad the behaviors are. You aren’t paid any extra for tough cases which can be frustrating. A lot of last minute cancellations and not always able to make up those hours.

Challenging but rewarding

I loved my supervisor and had fun with my client. It's a tough job because of running programs and taking data, but it can be really rewarding to see the growth of the kids.

Fun

Great place, the hiring process was fast!

Overworked, under-appreciated, unhealthy

Sweet promises are made to get you in the door, as soon as it closes behind you there is a shift. Your job is to make the company money, regardless of ethics or client care.

Cons

Leadership is exceptional at gaslighting, nothing actionable will occur

Can Be Rewarding but Bad Management and Favoritism at play.

It can be a fun environment to work in-center with some great people. Can feel like you're doing the work of 3 people, especially considering management making their job duties the responsibility of others and punishing employees for not doing them. Favoritism at play between management itself, and management and BT's. For a company that is devoted to care, they sure don't care much at all about their employees. Company policy is inconsiderate of the needs of their employees. They don't care about their employees even if they were dying but if you are really close-knitted with management they'll be willing to work with you through your illness as much as possible.

Pros

Fun, playful, great coworkers

Cons

Bad Management, Unorganized, No sick time

They don't care about your mental health or keeping promises

ABS Kids will promise you full time hours when they hire you, they will make it seem if the kid isn't a good match they can switch providers, they will act like they care. But they don't. They will drag you around on promises you'll have a patient in 2 week, over and over again.

It does its best!

I have no issues working here! They try their best and do what they can! For severe autism there needs to be a little bit more education and staff to address those behaviors, but other then that I cannot complain about my experience!

Pros

Good people, educational, and fun clients.

Cons

Needs better Behavioral support

Review

Depending on the job you have applied for depends on your work schedule. Currently I am working 6 days a week for 4 hours each day. The company has taught me many skills in a short amount of time. It's enjoyable to work with the kids to help them learn and grow. It is a relaxed environment with a casual, but professional, dress code. The hardest part about this job is dealing with the scheduling department. The pay is good and there is opportunities for growth and promotions. They have good benefits. The scheduling team is difficult to work with and RBTs are not paid if the client cancels. You may be able to cover someone but it's not always available. My family has canceled last minute which makes it hard to find a new shift. It would only be fair for the company to pay us for those days otherwise we are losing a lot.

Eh

Hours are great for people in need of them. Supervisors come to at least 1 session every week to two weeks to update and check in which is nice. All in all, an okay job
