Hard work, but lots of benefits
Associate (Former Employee) - Fairfax, VA - February 24, 2020

The most useful review selected by IndeedWork environment is intense with a prioritization on speed, customer service, and manual labor. Be prepared for it and for fairly long hours. Lots of benefits come with the job.

Horrible place to work
What is the best part of working at the company? The health insurance is the only thing good that comes out of the company. What is the most stressful part about working at the company? Everything you do in the store is timed. If you're not fast enough at something you get terminated like I did. I worked 5 years at Aldi . Then I got terminated because I was to slow. What is the work environment and culture like at the company? Horrible as can be, also very stressful because your always worried about your timing. What is a typical day like for you at the company? Being on register all day not being able to work other parts of the store to get faster.

Toxic work environment
Full time associate (Former Employee) - Fort Wayne, IN - September 21, 2023
The typical day is so stressful and overwhelming that most new hires quit in 2-3 weeks. I learned that I need quality coworkers and managers to to do my job well. The management is so poor that they truly believe it’s just “some other managers fault” and not the collective fault of the management team. The workplace culture is toxic and jaded. The hardest part of the job is being thrown into chaos with no help or leadership. And finally there’s no enjoyable parts. Literally none. Do not work here.
Pros
No pros.
Cons
Over use, and under pay employees, while poor management gets rewarded for work they didn’t do.

Good Staff
Associate (Current Employee) - 5811 w Oklahoma - September 21, 2023
I’m new but it seems like a good workplace, they have good benefits and things that any employee would be happy to have. Good hours , never under 30 which is great

Pros
Free water
Cons
You can’t choose when you can take a break, No Accommodating to people with other job, No employee discount, can be terminated if 2 or more sick days are taken in a year, aggressive customer behavior

High-paced, task-oriented
Associate (Current Employee) - California - September 18, 2023
The benefits are excellent, the pay is good, but the hours are flexible. (sometimes you get 36hrs, sometimes it's less than 20hrs). Management is okay as long as you do your job. It's all about completing tasks within a set time-frame. I learned how to hustle, budget my time, and complete tasks in an efficient manner. The workplace culture is okay. Everyone mostly keeps to themselves since we're all busy working. The hardest part of the job is throwing load fast enough, cashiering fast enough (watch those lines! Customers get upset easily if it's a long line.), and ensuring no detail was overlooked. The most enjoyable part of the job is utilizing the benefits!

Hectic and stressful
I worked there during Covid and it was terrible experience. Always over the limit of people in the store and general uncaring about the lives of the employees. Bullied into staying past the time of schedule and retaliated against.

Add some better training
Associate (Former Employee) - Arizona - September 15, 2023
Management could use some better training on how to deal with employee issues, scheduling, etc. We are either working too many hours or not enough hours.

Super great team! Always felt like workloads were evenly distributed and even managers contributed. Miss this team a lot! Super open communication within means of professional development and everyone was a team player

Too much
Casual Associate (Former Employee) - Nashville, TN - September 13, 2023
It's good pay, but you earn it and the work warrants more. You don't have one set task; only three people are working at a time, and they are strict. One of those workplaces that makes you feel guilty for not being able to work.

Management is great, but the job is hard
Associate (Former Employee) - Newark, OH - September 12, 2023
In my experience, the management is great. The benefits are great. But the job is hard. You are timed for everything you do. You are supposed to put an entire pallet away in 30 minutes. The customers are very entitled and rude a lot of times. You are required to do a lot and can work 8 hours and only get a 30 minute break. It’s physically and mentally draining.
Pros
Paid breaks
Cons
Stressful

If the crew is fun, the job is easy
Full Time Associate (Former Employee) - Milwaukee, WI - September 1, 2023
I’ve heard horror stories of other stores having a rough time with store employee dynamic. Ask this when you go in for your interview. I got placed in a fun, productive store and it was a pleasant job.

Fast paced
Aldi Associate (Current Employee) - Weatherford, TX - September 1, 2023
Its a lot of work. Physically, you’re lifting and moving a lot. Just because the cashier sits in the chair, doesn’t mean they sit all day. They stay busy. Moving at all time. Also, you’ll have to be able to be in a freezer at times. The team is great, which makes a big difference in the work place.
Pros
Flexible
Cons
Short breaks

Best team I’ve ever worked with
Associate (Former Employee) - Ludington, MI - August 31, 2023
This was a very strong team when I left the company. Management was patient and caring and wanted to see each other succeed. However it is not for the weak, the work load can be intimidating at times. Very fast paced work environment. You will often have multiple tasks at one time.

Poor communication but overall fun place to work
Associate (Current Employee) - Oshkosh, WI - August 28, 2023
Exactly as the title says, communication between shifts isn't very good, but overall staff is like one big sometimes dysfunctional, loving family. It's a fast pace that sometimes can be stressful.

Soul Sucking
Associate (Former Employee) - Lewis Center, OH - August 27, 2023
While the pay was fair, the work environment was near-hostile and devoid of any emotion except negativity, impatience, and intolerance. Manager would talk badly about other workers, and schedule strenuous work days (I often worked 7 days in a row with multiple 8-hour close-to-open shifts). I could see this job being manageable with better, more positive people leading you, but I never had a good day working here.
Pros
Fair pay
Cons
No stable schedule, timed on unrealistic goals, sped through training, a general feeling of despair, terrible work-life balance

Thankful managers, good benefits
Aldi Associate (Former Employee) - Gainesville, FL - August 26, 2023
Productive, after you learn the areas and FIFO rules you are your own lead and responsible to make the work flow. You do have managers to back you up on your blind spots. Morning shift Break palets, Run back stock Open the store Night shift Run Blackstock from the Morning Store is open so you do customer service Box out empty boxes Clean all areas like registers, bathroom, break rooms, take garbage out, clean floors and leave...all share task among employees on shift..
Pros
Good pay, good benefits, positive environment
Cons
It can be very physical, it's literally CROSS FIT

Busy, busy, busy
Associate (Former Employee) - Columbus, IN - August 23, 2023
There truly is never a time to rest at ALDI. From the time you clock in to the time you clock out, there's always something to do. You will never be "done" with a task. There will always be more to it.
Pros
Great benefits
Cons
Damaging to the body

Fast paced
Associate (Former Employee) - Waterbury, CT - August 17, 2023
Higher ups expect too much. Managers and associates dictate daily operations. Turnover too high. Customers at that location and rude and inconsiderate.
