Working at aldi can be stressful in the beginning, but it definitely gets easier with time and commitment.

After working with Aldi for a little less than half a year I'm finally comfortable at the job in terms of meeting the goals and expectations that are expected of me. The biggest benefits are time flexibility, pay, and exercise. This job is very demanding and will require a lot of effort from you. If you're lazy you definitely won't last here. As long as you are a hard worker and committed to your work you'll be fine. The management is very understanding from my experience while in training and at my home store.

Great work atmosphere

If you are willing to work hard and understand that it is very mentally and physically demanding job you will find there are great benefits to working here

Its overall okay

I worked here for several years, and the very fast pace and lack of staffing can really take a toll on your body. I really only stayed as long as I did because I liked my coworkers and management.

Productive and fun place to work

Worked here for many years, its fast paced and have alot of jobs to do at once so need to be able to multi task and work under pressure. Pallet times and till targets need to be hit. But overall a good place to work, good pay but hard work.

Wouldn’t recommend

A lot of managers not enough staff no hours to make use of higher wage repetitive job most days shift work 6 to 2 or 2 to 10 , 30 minute paid break and your 15minute break is discouraged amongst staff since they want you on the floor not on your break, whatever you do it’s never done right, micro management in simple tasks and constant lecturing. I would say staying at this company for longer than a year is more of an achievement than an experience since most leave before a year is up. Monthly pay first month you are only paid your contracted hours which are 25 hours unless you are a deputy manager then you have 30hours, deputy managers on shift delusional about their actual job role and are only paid allocated hours for the month between them. Overall a toxic and soul draining environment but can be fun if you get sent out litter picking the car park at 6am on a winter day.

Awesome place to work!

It was a very enjoyable experience. Lots of room to grow and move up in positions. If you are looking for a great work environment work at Aldi.

Probably my worst job

I hated it here. The management was very toxic and they never tried to help you at all. My co-workers tried helping me, but then the GM told them to stop socializing with me and GET BACK TO WORK! I felt very scared coming into work every day. I didn't last very long, but I'm so so glad I left.

Retaliation central

You cannot object to management to any level because they will retaliate against you and make you do what you enjoy the least to try to force you to quit. Meanwhile someone who never worked and sat in the office with the store manager for more than half of her shift got promoted to assistant manager.

Pros

The pay

Cons

Retaliation and no one will back you

Fast pace working

Working fast pace time goes fast but grand plenty of opportunity to climb ladder if you really want to being working there 15 years and still enjoy working with public

Bit of a joke.

They expect you to do 5 peoples jobs at once. You’ll be halfway through stocking shelves and be called to the registers over and over. Youre supposed to have every second weekend off but half the time you’re asked to work, I didn’t complain it was extra money but the more you said yes, the more they asked & they would make you feel so bad if you didn’t accept the offer to work and wouldn’t even pay me for it. It’s a great place to shop but a bad company to work for. They don’t care about their workers. I wouldn’t recommend working there. If it was the last job on earth I’d rather be poor.

Pros

Good money

Cons

Too many.

Exhausting and stressful

High workload and stressful work environment, very tiring compared to other supermarkets I have worked at. I found other store assistants and staff to be very friendly and welcoming however some managers where a pain to work with and had unrealistic expectations

productive and fun workplace

productive and fun work place. Days at work are fun. Learned and gain a lot of experience. Hardest part of the job is lifting weights in a timely manner

Pay was nice and overall, great employee experience, I miss this job and regret leaving it. :(

Basically the same as the heading of this review, I enjoyed the physical balance of my duties. (Chairs at the Cashier desks, and once customer service concludes, we perform inventory.) The Work/Life Balance was acceptable unlike a current job I unfortunately work at in Monee, IL.😒

Pros

Benefits

Cons

Dealing with the general public.

Good pay - poor management

Great place to start, coworkers are friendly and helpful. Over 6 months you can feel/see the favoritism. Timed on everything from stocking to ringing, bad times or numbers and you will definitely hear about it. The schedule is the most convoluted thing ever, they don’t care if you close into an open shift at all or end up with 6 days in a row will just say try to switch with someone. Store manager is by far the worst. Comes off as super nice but she makes the place toxic. Super micromanager even to those going on 5+ years.

Pros

Pay, coworkers

Cons

Schedule, toxic boss, timed

Its okay for the pay

The job itself is very stressful and if its too busy or the store is short staffed you're going to be stuck doing a lot if not most of the work. Working at one of the most busiest stores in the country and not having enough associates on most shifts is a problem too. It also depends on the people who are on your shift. The only good thing is the pay. Oh and I have some good co workers and managers though so it helps a bit.

Pros

pay

Cons

a lot of work, stressful

Hard work

Long shifts, extremely fast paced and tiring. Usually short staffed and lots of pressure, however everyone works hard and gets the job done. Great team of people to work with.

Unfair management, No Respect, Doesn’t Take Doctors Notes

A lot more horrible thing’s as well. Management not caring about you what so ever. And if you need to call off? Might as well get fired. Just not a friendly environment and very much a hierarchy. A lot more to say but Advice is just no if you suffer with mental health issues.

Can be a fun and collaborative place to work

Can be good, depending on the store manager/ASM which can change quite regularly. Fair pay for the work you’re doing.Very accommodating to people like uni students, mothers, etc.

Pros

Good pay

Cons

Till rotations

Don't do it.

The pay may seem worth it, but believe me. The unfair treatment and unreasonable workload far outweigh any benefits. They expect you to work with malfunctioning equipment and in unsafe conditions and keep your mouth shut about it. They do not care about you and will make your life miserable the minute you rock the boat. Steer clear.

Fast Paced and Self Motivated

The physical demands are great, and depending on your location, the atmosphere varies substantially. Some stores are a breeze while others don’t have it right. Scheduling can be erratic, and hours are changing with the seasons. The job doesn’t require much knowledge, but does test your physical limits, your customer service attitude, and your personal willpower. You are expected to “Buy In” to the Aldi brand as a whole, which personally didn’t sit right with me. Fast Paced growth has been the downfall of Aldi’s work environment.
