H&M Hennes & Mauritz AB (H&M) is a Swedish fashion and retail company known for its range of trendy and fashionable clothing for women, men, teenagers and children. The company was founded in 1947 by Erling Persson in Västerås, Sweden. At that time, the company sold only women's clothing and was called Hennes, which means "hair" in Swedish. In 1968, Persson bought Mauritz Widforss, a shop in Stockholm that specialised in hunting gear but also sold men's clothing. He renamed the shop Hennes & Mauritz, which was later shortened to H&M.
The H&M group consists of six independent brands: H&M, COS, Monki, Weekday, & Other Stories and ARKET. We have over 4,200 shops in 76 markets around the world.
We want to lead by example when it comes to fashion and sustainability. In this context, our employees play a key role and can contribute to more sustainable fashion, now and in the future. We want to enable everyone to choose a sustainable lifestyle and, in short, enable everyone to look good, feel good and do good!
