Don't work there
Merchandise Associate (Former Employee) - Dulles Town Center, VA - September 11, 2021
Indeed Featured review
The most useful review selected by IndeedI worked at Macy's for 6 years. I like the co-workers but you will work there with NO A/C. The managers now are too bossy and blame you for everything. Unless you are up for that, then work there. There's no flexibility. Must work on Holidays, weekends, they will take your points away if you don't show up or want to take a vacation. HR isn't happy with employees complaining about that.
Pros
Co-workers, breaks
Cons
Management, Hr, No A/C while working.

The most amazing work experience that set the bar for all other jobs that I worked for.
Talent Acquisition Specialist (Current Employee) - Santa Ana, CA - November 27, 2023
What is the best part of working at the company? Benefits are out of this world and the family vibe you get with your team. Also it is easy to try different positions once your hired. What is the most stressful part about working at the company? As long as your trying there is nothing stressful besides dealing with bad mannered customers What is the work environment and culture like at the company? It is a giant family vibe where we all look out for eachother What is a typical day like for you at the company? Log in computer. Sift through job applications. Check for qualifications. Add to o boarding schedule. Send offer letter. Repeat.

Ok for first job
Seasonal Sales Associate (Former Employee) - Wayne, NJ - November 27, 2023
Manageable for a seasonal position, didn’t stay long. When I first got there I didn’t have formal training, had to learn as I went. There were a few fellow employees that were pretty helpful though.

Fun place
Sales Manager (Former Employee) - Galleria, FL - November 27, 2023
Great place to work. Lots of room to grow. Everyday you learn something new in your role. But not enough managers. You were all over the place all the time. That aspect also made it fun sometimes.

Sales culture
Associate (Former Employee) - Massapequa, NY - November 26, 2023
We had to reach a certain amount of credit cards per day. Cash Register was simple but support was often not found when we called. Managers were not always available

Only do it if you need money or work experience
Shelf Stocker (Former Employee) - Milford, CT - November 26, 2023
This is good for a first job/college job. Not a career/long term job. Get ready for lots of walking and lifting for low pay. Management fired great people and replaced them with not-so-great people. Do it if you're young and need some money. Don't do it if you're an adult and can get a better job.

Great opportunity
Cashier (Former Employee) - Burnsville, MN - November 26, 2023
This was a great starting point for a career. Even though it’s been 10 years since I have worked here, I still look back on all of the customer service skills I learned! Definitely can apply to life.

Fun workplace only with the right coworkers
Sales Associate (Former Employee) - Daly City, CA - November 26, 2023
Management was absolutely horrible, but the coworkers you have to make up for it. During the holidays, it was really hard for your managers to care about you.

Great company, but benefits need work
I've worked at 5 companies, so that's my frame of reference. People looking to be Full Time supervisors and managers need to be aware of 2 things. 1. The company is GREAT. They are good at retail, have a powerful brand, and feels secure. 2. Benefits leave much to be desired and I'll go into this in detail to help others out. A. Health Insurance is expensive B. Dental coverage is not great even with the premium plans. C. 401K is only a $/$ match for first 1%, the other 5% is at 50 cents. D. The 401K gets matched once a year, as opposed to immediately upon contributing everywhere else I've worked. E. The miscellaneous company discounts you get thru a 3rd party are inferior to other places I've used. F. They do not add to your FSA/HSA, several companies I've worked for every year deposited some money into this, $300-$500. G. The bonus is once a year with sometimes uncertain payout, compared to semiannual which was very nice. They seem to spend a lot of money in DEI efforts, team surveys, etc. As a diverse person I think those monies are instead better served spent on benefits. The DEI stuff may make you feel good, but does not help pay your family's medical bills.
Pros
Great people great brand. Deff recommend
Cons
Benefits are only average at best.

Holiday helper
Cashier/Sales Associate (Former Employee) - Homestead, PA - November 26, 2023
The work required standing for entire shift unless on a break. Pushing to have customers apply for credit cards with each interaction. Little room for advancement if you did not have a bachelors degree.

Play and fun
Sales Associate (Current Employee) - San Diego, CA - November 26, 2023
Great job with counting down the hours and then getting back on schedule for next week and then getting ready for work and getting back into bed to do my homework

I love ny co-workers because we worked as a team.
Sales Associate (Former Employee) - New York, NY - November 25, 2023
What is the best part of working at the company? Co-workers that have become extended family. What is the most stressful part about working at the company? The return policy and micro-managing. Staffshortages too. What is the work environment and culture like at the company? It depends on the manager. The company seems to care more for the customers than their employees. What is a typical day like for you at the company? The managers stress you out about opening store accounts. They want you to perform several jobs, while you're being underpaid and under appreciated.

No Decent Hours
Sales Associate (Former Employee) - Portage, MI - November 25, 2023
I recently got hired for seasonal help here. No interview. 2 days of computer training, that's it. Then you're "thrown" into it. No help from no one, expect you to know what you're doing. I got my seasonal schedule recently. I'm lucky to be working 1, 2 days a week for December. I decided I can find something else with more hours. I guess they don't need help that bad. Bad management
Pros
None
Cons
No decent hours
