Not Good
Overnight Stock Associate (Former Employee) - Terre Haute, IN - September 27, 2023
As an overnight stock person, the job is incredibly simple. Night supervision at my store though is super lackluster, giving little-to-no direction to new hires. No pre-shift meeting. One of my supervisors hovered & spoke recklessly; mainly about co-workers & work culture. Also, my final settlement was $31 short. I’m going back to walmart

Cookie Cutter Retail Job
N/A (Current Employee) - Grand Chute, WI - September 26, 2023
There honestly isn't much to say about the work itself. It's putting stuff on a shelf and helping people find said stuff for a paycheck. There are a handful of nice and normal people there, while everyone else is silent as the grave and avoids eye contact with each other at all costs. I've never experienced something so awkward anywhere else I've worked in my entire life. The energy you're told is there vs what's actually there just simply doesn't align. This, plus the taxable points system given to employees rather than pay raises really irks me.
Pros
Flexible scheduling, nice benefits
Cons
Basically everything else.

Fast paced friendly coworkers
Stocker (Former Employee) - Kenosha, WI - September 26, 2023
Worked during the pandemic. Mangers were helpful and coworkers were friendly. Gave great instructions to the job. Pay could have been better. Work life balance was good.

Good Part-Time Job
Cashier (Current Employee) - Terre Haute, IN - September 26, 2023
The people make working here fun. It is a good place to work to make some extra money in college. They are flexible and understanding of your situation.

Was fine aside from morning staff
Overnight Stocker (Former Employee) - Mentor - September 26, 2023
Worked night shift here. Manager was nice and professional. Scheduling flexibility for most part was exceptional but I left because of morning staff stockers. All they do is talk behind your back and complain if things aren’t done the way THEY WANT- not the way the job should be. Whether you’re a minor or you’re an adult (and these are 40-60 year old adults- it’s retail grow up). the job itself for overnight stocking I enjoyed because it kept me on my feet and I wouldn’t have left if it weren’t for day shift people but a lot of them are miserable and mean especially to new staff. That was my experience. Job is good. Manager is great. Morning staff was miserable to be around when I was there (few years ago) and some of the behavior from these people is just childish and gross. Meijer should definitely pay more attention to their staff because these same people interact with customers.
Pros
1 lunch with 2 15min breaks, decent pay, kept you productive
Cons
morning staff, low staffed so can be overwhelming amounts of work for one person in your section

Its productive and sometimes it does get stagnant
Bakery Clerk (Current Employee) - Allen Park, MI - September 25, 2023
It varies from day to day. Most of the time you're playing catch up from the previous days because we don't have enough people to keep up with the inventory that needs to be on the floor. I learned teamwork makes the dream work. Management always needs help. Nothing is really hard. The enjoyable part of the job is getting to know the people in different departments as well as the department you're in.
Pros
Team member discounts
Cons
30 minutes don't seem long enough

Bad
Produce Clerk (Former Employee) - Louisville, KY - September 25, 2023
Run away for your life while you still can. You are only a number to these people so don’t stay here long. Nothing is worth your sanity and you can’t get your time back

Clock in and clock out
Pricing Associate (Former Employee) - Noblesville, IN - September 25, 2023
Don’t bother trying to make friends with people because they will flip on you if it suits their needs. This goes for managers and those below. Time off! Hahaha! I guess it depends on your supervisor and department. Pay is terrible with no growth in sight. Don’t waste your time.
Pros
None
Cons
If you can think of it, it’s on this list

Good retail job
Receiving Clerk (Former Employee) - Canton, MI - September 24, 2023
Definitely a great retail job, but there are better ones out there. This company has some decent management and has good advancement opportunities if you can prove yourself. Once you start to prove yourself, then they expect more out of you and all of a sudden you are doing the work of 3 people. So if you are going to work here, think carefully about what position you choose. Do not work in receiving if you have a bad back.

An overall negative, passive aggressive experience that openly expressed disdain for the employees.
Inventory Clerk (Former Employee) - Howard County, IN - September 24, 2023
Being expected to do an unbelievable amount more work than required, within the same amount of time. I learned nothing whatsoever that is work taking to another place of employment; it felt like being trapped. Workplace culture is just being in a depressed pool of overworked people. Management is petty, disrespectful and expect employees to do an impossible amount of extra work to make them look good on paper. There is no easy part.
Pros
You get to leave at some point.
Cons
Too many to list.

Pleasant
Overnight Stocker (Former Employee) - Lexington, KY - September 23, 2023
What is the best part of working at the company? Merchandise positions are labeled on merchandise labels so stockers know merchandise shelf locations. What is the most stressful part about working at the company? Deep conditioning and nothing else What is the work environment and culture like at the company? Friendly, welcoming, and cooperative What is a typical day like for you at the company? Consistently realistic expectations

Michigan City Meijer, employees cry regularly
General Merchandise Clerk/Cashier/stock (Former Employee) - Michigan City, IN - September 23, 2023
Michigan City was a horrible place to work. The decent employees that are able to leave, do. There are a lot of personalities, as with any job, but some of them take the cake here. Middle management is always stressed partly due to high turnaround and upper management just doesn't recognize decent employees and doesn't care to. Doing the actual jobs, such as cashiering and stocking, are fine. It's just an unnecessarily confused, angry and high stress environment.
Pros
Free lunch sometimes
Cons
Depends what department you work in but there are many.

"Great place to work" is a lie
Store Associate (Current Employee) - Lapeer, MI - September 23, 2023
Management is so lazy you don't seem them half the night, certain workers do a lot less work with more benefits and don't help anyone else. NOT a team environment!
Pros
Decent money
Cons
Management, no teamwork

Fun but also serious
Online Grocery Pickup Associate (Current Employee) - Birch Run, MI - September 22, 2023
What is the best part of working at the company? They work with you not against you. What is the most stressful part about working at the company? Getting orders ready in time. What is the work environment and culture like at the company? Smooth as of right now my son plays football they ask him and if they won. What is a typical day like for you at the company? Busy always busy. Never dull moment

Management expectations were not realistic
Softlines Associate (Former Employee) - Sturgis, MI - September 22, 2023
I worked third shift fashions. I would get my shamrock, and pallet jack. Line up my skids to sort. Sort the merch into men’s women’s and kids. Then I would work baby load. I learned to work independently. My manager was a wonderful lady. But she put more on me then the rest. I had quit and came back to the same treatment. She told me it’s not going to change so I was done. The hardest part of the job was the amount of work. Some days I would have 20+ skids to sort in 8 hours. My all time best was 22 skids. The most enjoyable part of my job was sorting cloths. I got to see all the new stuff first. Also when I was sorting people left me alone😁
Pros
It was a good place to work
Cons
My managers attitude.

Productive, professional work environment.
Recieving (Former Employee) - Saginaw, MI - September 21, 2023
I have hundreds of thousands of dollars going through my hands daily, yet I am not worthy enough to be paid a living wage. I have given over 20 years here, though new hires I train make more money than me. It is honestly deplorable. Since the passing of Fred Meijer, things have not been the same. It is regrettable, to see an organization I have given my life to so money-hungry, and not wanting to give a liveable wage with the current record inflation. We do not get inflation adjustments to our pay. Therefore, I just cannot recommend this place as a place to work for others.
Pros
Pto
Cons
high healthcare

To demanding for pay and they think pizza helps.
Stocker (Former Employee) - New Albany, IN - September 21, 2023
Upper management tell you they want you to grow but it is an illusion. Even if you do your job plus more it will not increase your chance of moving up and increasing your wages.
Pros
Food wants and awhile
Cons
Wiring there
