Understaffed and much expectation of employees

Indeed Featured review

The most useful review selected by Indeed
Depending on who I was working with, this could be a positive place to work. They place much emphasis on their income and some value on their employees. I learned a lot about working with people, was able to use my spanish, and I was given some responsibility.

Simple work place but want to many tasks done

Overall the job is very simple, my favorite shift will probably be night shift less customers and just folding/hanging clothes. And now I finally understand everyone frustrations about the card which they do push ALOT. But starting out I had to kinda figure it out on my own because they did throw me on register and shipping :/

Pros

A lot of help from management

Cons

Pay, managers let other employees do there on thing

Easy job

Very easy, simple job. Pay could be better but overall great company. Work environment was easy going and not stressful. All tasks given are super easy to do (in any department) and training goes really smooth.

Alright

Pay was not great and there was little room for improvement or growth. A lot is expected of you, but managers not really give you the means to complete everything on time. coworkers were nice and benefits were great

Productive and fun workplace

However no room for advancement. I enjoyed my managers and coworkers but as I said no real room for growth or advancement. I did enjoy my time at this job.

Great employee discount

You get a great employee discount also good at the gap and banana republic. Otherwise it is a typical retail job, outdated Point of Sales system, pushy credit card signups

It is alright

As an employee at Old Navy, my experience working here has its ups and downs. The camaraderie among the staff is a definite plus. The team is friendly, and there's a sense of collaboration that makes the work environment enjoyable. One of the standout aspects of Old Navy is its commitment to providing a wide range of sizes. It's rewarding to see customers find clothes that make them feel confident, regardless of their body type. The company's dedication to inclusivity in sizing is evident and appreciated by both customers and employees.

Fun

I loved the employee discount and those I worked with. Black Friday sales was a busy time. My first night closing the store was a very long process as I was paired with a new manager who did not know what she was doing.

Average retail job

I worked here as my first retail experience and it was very tiring. I was trained on how to fold the clothes and then thrown on the register. Eventually they made me do go backs only and it was annoying because I was newer and didn't know everything yet on how to fold specific jeans and stuff. Favoritism + tiring + overall don't recommend

Pretty good

Work isn’t very demanding, but don’t recommend if you can’t handle retail. At least a couple annoying customers each day. Very easy to learn skills of the job, but if you’re looking to move up at all maybe don’t bother- certain management positions are too much work for the pay you get. If you’re hired seasonally/part time there’s a risk your hours will get cut until you’re forced to leave.

Fantastic Environment

This company is a favourite to have worked for. Friendly and helpful coworkers, great brand. Not a sales pressure environment. Take care of customers.

Alright for High School/College Student

It was a little annoying to be scheduled for only 3.75 hours for every single shift rather than the full 4 hours with a break included. Management needs to stop being extra pushy about the credit cards or else you will get a talk with management if you don't hit their goals every week.

Flexible and fun

The staff is super friendly and the schedule is very flexible, but there is a huge pressure on selling credit cards and the pay isn't awesome.

productive

manager had no problem with making employees feel incompetent, coworkers very friendly and helpful. understaffed during shipment days and placing product onto shelves often cut into active store hours

Greedy company and uptight managers.

Worked at Old Navy for almost half a decade got promoted a year and a half after working there to a sales lead didn’t receive any pay raise, but did the work of three people regularly also trained associates and managed men’s department on top of that. Some managers were nice but many of them were immature, unprofessional and made you stay several hours after your shift was over without overtime or breaks. Would do the most work for the minimum amount of pay possible while managers sat back and did nothing usually. Worst company I’ve worked for. Also around closing time workers weren’t allowed to tell customers the store was closing so the store would stay open hours after closing prolonging the shift well beyond what’s expected even into the AM hours. Also when I first started working there, there would be 6 closers then as time progressed there would be 2 and then 1 closer doing the work of those 6 people and more because the company was too greedy to have more people on the schedule. Avoid this greedy and stingy company.

Pros

None

Cons

Horrible pay, overworked, immature childish manager

It’s just retail

It’s an alright place to work as a seasonal employee! I got my first job there and the old manager made me cry. But hella good employee discount so that was nice.

Nice people

My co workers are all pretty awesome, and that definitely helps the otherwise dreary job. But it’s pretty standard. Short breaks, same tasks. Standard retail job. Sucky, but pays pretty well.

Low pay and high expectations

Every day they constantly urge you to open old navy credit cards (the company sends a quota), it gets tiresome asking every person. The pay is $15 an hour, which sucks for the amount of work they want you to do and you only get one 15 minute break if you're part time.

Pros

Occasional nice people

Cons

Low pay, short breaks

good start up

good for beginners and helps to build your resume, i don't recommend staying for holidays ( Christmas, back to school, thanksgiving, etc, etc so on and so forth).
